Harnessing the Power of Emotions: Understanding Their Purposes
Let’s talk about the various uses for the typically mislabeled negative emotions, that are really just lower frequency emotions, according to psychiatrist and spiritual teacher, David R. Hawkins in Power vs. Force.
I’ve attached my own ideas here of purposes for each emotion from lower to higher frequencies;
Positive Use Examples:
- Despair- Rest From Responsibility
- Sadness- Release Feelings Of Loss
- Fear- Escape Danger
- Anger- Increase Threshold For Pain Tolerance
- Acceptance- Receive satisfaction
- Joy- Fulfill Your Soul
- Love- Connect Spiritually
- Enlightenment- Gain Knowledge And Bliss
Effects Of Dwelling In Each Emotion Longer Than Useful:
- Despair- Downward Spiraling
- Sadness- Depression/ Stagnation
- Fear- Prevent Positive Change
- Anger- Vengeance/ Harming People Or Things
- Acceptance- Complacency
- Joy- Perfectionism And Denial
- Love- Extreme Or Unhealthy Codependency
- Enlightenment- Aloof/ Elitist Attitude
Most people are capable of experiencing the full spectrum of emotions, with the exception of those who’ve experienced damage to the prefrontal lobe of their brain, including brain surgery, trauma, or addiction. I’ll address some tools later for healing the brain from trauma and addiction. Remember that you have all your feelings for good and valid reasons.

In physics, the movement of electrons between the – and + of the power source creates electric flow.
You can create an energetic flow in your life by intentionally moving from lower frequency (-) to higher frequency (+) emotions. You need both the high and the low to create the flow, much like electricity.
When you start on a high emotion and end on a low emotion, you experience a drop in energy. Alternatively, when you go from a low emotion and focus on a high-frequency thought, you transform potential energy into energy you can use.
